Dancing Bear is a Native American who has lived in the SanFrancisco Bay area for twenty years. He based "Pow Wow Testimony" onhis father's experiences in the Marine Corps. Dancing Bear works asan editor and poetry reviewer and is an active participant in localpoetry groups and events; his work has appeared in Slipstream,Visions International, and many others. Linda Darkes is forty-five and works for the PennsylvaniaDepartment of Labor and Industry. She has been writing since college,and has over forty-five published poems in secular and Christianmagazines. She enjoys reading Robert Frost, Robert Fulghum, BelviaPlain, and Anne Tyler. Allison deFreese recently completed an MA in English at theUniversity of Texas at Austin. Pandora Deichert says that "Prelude" was fairly easy towrite -- it's her parents' front porch back home, and she lived thatpoem countless times. "Autumn Yield" is a memory from the home sheshared with her husband in Pennsylvania. William Doxey was born and raised in Coral Gables, Floridaand has been writing for over twenty-five years. He is a professor ofEnglish at West Georgia College in Carrollton, and also directs theirgraduate program in English. He has published five novels and onebook of poetry, and his short stories have appeared in Esquireand The Atlantic. He is currently writing a biography of NewtGingrich. Antoinette S. Ellis was born and raised in Portland,Oregon. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1960 and has workedas a publisher, writer, and editor. Since returning to Oregon, shehas realized a long-standing dream of living "in the grandeur ofcedar forests on the hem of majestic Mount Hood." She writes poetrywhile working on a first novel.
